Moritz Jenz might not have featured much in the second half of the season for Celtic but the big defender is already making waves in Germany.
The towering centre-half was brought in on loan from FC Lorient in the summer at Parkhead to bolster defensive cover and the swoop proved crucial when defender Carl Starfelt was injured on international duty and missed months of action. Jenz was in line for big Champions League and domestic action for Ange Postecoglou's men, even scoring on his debut against Ross County.
But the 23-year-old did complete a 180 in the second half of the campaign as Cameron Carter-Vickers and Starfelt's stranglehold on the starting spot was clear and the arrival of Japanese star Yuki Kobayashi signalled the worst. Last month it was decided Jenz would cut his Parkhead spell short and join struggling Bundesliga side Schalke.

And since the centre-half seems to have plugged the goal glut Die Knappen had been facing, as the side have drawn the last four games 0-0 since Jenz's arrival. They had previously lost 6-1 to RB Leipzig and 3-0 to Europa League winners Eintracht Frankfurt but the arrival of the German has been hailed majorly by fans and pundits alike.
Schalke still remain bottom of the table and five points adrift of 17th placed Hertha Berlin, but seem to have had a marked improvement with Jenz's signing. And fans are beginning to notice with one claiming: "Moritz Jenz is a blessing for our team."
One reporter posted: "Have to say Moritz Jenz outstanding for Schalke, won his duels and just protected the box extremely well with his positioning."
Another claimed: "The German has the makings to be one of the great central defenders of the Bundesliga. Upper level."
