Ryan Jack enjoyed a dream return to the European stage - and admitted the destruction of Dortmund made months of rehab toil worthwhile.
The Rangers midfielder helped shackle a star-studded Borussia midfield in only his third start in 12 months to lay the foundations for a famous victory.
It’s exactly a year ago that Jack last featured in a Euro match for the Ibrox outfit, a 4-3 victory over Royal Antwerp before being struck down by a calf injury that required surgery.
But he played a crucial part as the Scottish champions stunned the Bundesliga giants on their own turf to put one foot in the Europa League last 16.
Jack said: "It is an amazing result.
“What a performance. I think everyone spoke before the game and said no matter what happened we would leave it all on the pitch and I think that's what we did.
“It just shows you, when you buy into the game plan and stick together, that when you come to big places like this you can get a big result.
"It has been such a long time and I've not had a run of games consecutively and a run of training consecutively.
“So for me, I knew coming here tonight was going to be a massive task playing against world-class players all over the pitch.
"But I have worked hard behind the scenes, I have trained tirelessly every day to have this moment, and for me personally, I was delighted to be back out there to help the lads get a big win."
Rangers were in Dortmund’s faces right from the start with Alfredo Morelos bullying the Borussia backline and Jack told the club's official website: “The first 10 minutes we had a couple of passages of play and Buff was at it - he was getting us forward and he was linking the play.
"I think everyone just looked at each other from there and thought, 'we're at it tonight' and, when you buy into that and stick together and all perform to your maximum and leave it all out there, then this is the type of results we are capable of as a team.”
