Did Chelsea make a mistake selling Mohamed Salah in 2016? Most would instinctively say yes given what the Egyptian has done since then, excelling for Roma in Serie A before coming back to haunt the Blues with Liverpool on several occasions.
Context does matter, however. Back when Salah originally left Chelsea they had a title-winning attack under Jose Mourinho with Eden Hazard dominating the left, Diego Costa the perfect talisman and either Willian or Pedro completing the trio. The season before Salah returned to the Premier League, Chelsea won another title.
Purely on silverware, Chelsea have done okay without Salah but as we sit here in June 2022, six years after his sale, the Blues' current attack has severely regressed since the 2017 title triumph.
