The heart of Britain's intelligence service has opened up some job roles available for people all across the countries.
The job vacancies are available across a wide range of departments and localtions - including in Greater Manchester - and require different levels of expertise. Some roles even sound like they came straight out of a James Bond novel.
MI5 is the UK’s Security Service, while MI6 is the Secret Intelligence Service (SIS). The agencies often work alongside the Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) to form the UK’s Intelligence Services.

On their official site, the intelligence service states they "work together to safeguard Britain’s people, interests and businesses from various threats at home, overseas and online, including cyber-attacks, espionage, terrorism, and organised crime.”

Security Officer - London, Oxfordshire, Reading, Swindon
Up to £36,847
At MI5, a security officer would be expected to protect the agency's assets while working towards making 'complex' security operations a success. People applying for this job should expect to work with a team of professionals and provide a 'reassuring presence' while performing a variety of security duties.
Intelligence Officer Development Programme - London
£34,414 rising to £37,203 after 1 year
Intelligence officers at MI5 will be responsible for countering 'thraets' from International or Northern Ireland related terrorism as well as espionage by 'hostile states'. This highly-specialised role will include working with other intelligence agencies such as MI6, the police, GCHQ, and Whitehall.
Business Enablers - Central London, Cheltenham, Manchester
£34,414 rising to £37,203 after 1 year (London) £32,050 rising to £34,648 after 1 year (Cheltenham and Manchester)
Business enablers will be required to support the wider intelligence business and ensure it operates smoothly. This role may include collaborating with a range of business area such as finance, information management, and HR.
Agent handler - London
£53,994 (basic salary £50,938, plus disturbance allowance of 6% of salary)
Agent handlers will be asked to recruit and oversee relationships with members of the public who provide MI5 with information on potential threats. Working with such agents will require the ability to nurture and develop working relationships.
