There were broken heads and broken limbs, but their spirit remained unbroken. If there is anything we can conclude about the ongoing student protests in New Delhi and other cities like Mumbai, is that there is a churning amongst India’s youth that has taken everyone by surprise – politicians, mainstream media and perhaps even the thousands of young participants.
What these last three days, since the July 20 march to Parliament called by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has also established is that the fulminations on mainstream broadcast media simply don’t matter to the young. They have their own channels where they access news and information, they have devised their own forms of communication, and they have found innovative ways to register their disgust and fury against a government that refuses to accept responsibility for the mess it has made of the education system.
