Former Liverpool triallist Evan Ferguson took just 17 minutes to score on his full international debut for the Republic of Ireland tonight to underline his huge potential.
The 18-year-old Brighton & Hove Albion striker was in the right place at the right time to prod home a second first-half goal for Stephen Kenny's side - for whom Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher played the full match - in their 3-2 friendly win at home to Latvia.
A deep cross from Matt Doherty was kept in play instinctively by Michael Obafemi and Ferguson was quick to react to double Ireland's lead and open his account at international level.
