Having a car featured on Car and Driver's 10Best list is a major mark of excellence for automakers, as it represents that a specific car is among the absolute best of the best cars for sale on the market.

Among the mainstays recognized by the famed auto publication, a car from an EV marquee riding on Tesla's (TSLA) -) coattails got the attention of the reviewers.
Enter the Lucid Air Pure
The Lucid Air Pure, the cheapest trim of the Air sedan, makes its first appearance onto the car magazine's list of top cars.
In his writeup, Car and Driver Associate Editor Austin Irwin wrote that the Air Pure was a "fresh take" on electric cars, noting that the $78,975 vehicle (before tax credit) is "a base model whose driving range, performance, space, and price put it in a sweet spot, one that makes you feel like you're holding a golden ticket instead of a coupon."
"It's the most affordable version of an impressive EV," said Irwin. "Yet even at this lowest tier, it delivers better EPA range than the most expensive or longest-range electrics from Tesla, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz, or any other EV maker in the market."
According to Lucid (LCID) -), the Air Pure has an estimated range of 419 miles between charges and 430 horsepower.
Additionally, Irwin praised Lucid's ability to package a car with only the essentials in a way that it is true to its 'Pure' name.
"The Pure only sacrifices what's easy to live without," said Irwin. "It wears a body-colored metal roof instead of glass, the frunk lid isn't powered, the front seats aren't ventilated, and the windshield isn't heated."

Other entries on Car and Driver's 10Best list include the Honda Accord, Honda Civic, Cadillac CT4-V and CT5-V Blackwing models, the Acura Integra Type S, the Porsche 718 Boxster/Cayman, the Subaru BRZ/Toyota GT86, the Chevrolet Corvette and Corvette E-Ray and the Toyota Prius.
