Hi. It's Monday, February 14, and you're closing out this Valentine's Day with The Loop, a quick wrap-up of today's news.
Let's start here
Police have confirmed human remains found in Victoria's remote high country in November last year are those of missing campers Carol Clay and Russell Hill.
The campers went missing from their Wonnangatta Valley campsite in March 2020, and became the subject of a high-profile search, with investigators appealing to the public for information multiple times.
Late last year, Pilot Greg Lynn was charged with murder over the pair's disappearance and is due to face court again in May. He hasn't entered a plea yet.
What else is going on
- The Court of Arbitration for Sport has concluded its hearing on Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva after she received news of a positive test for a banned drug taken ahead of the Beijing Winter Olympic Gamess, ruling that she can continue to compete at the Games ahead of a separate investigation led by the Russian anti-doping agency
- Federal Liberal MP Russell Broadbent, who has refused to be vaccinated against COVID-19, has used parliament to promote ivermectin, a drug which has not approved for treating the virus. The TGA placed restrictions on who could access oral ivermectin last year as its popularity grew among COVID-19 conspiracy campaigners.

What Australia has been searching for online
- Nope. The trailer for Jordan Peele's latest project has been released and, while we still don't really know much about it, people are already getting pretty excited. It's not rated yet but, in regular Jordan Peele fashion, the trailer is a bit spooky in parts, just as a warning
- Jarryd Hayne. The former NRL and NFL player has won an appeal against his sexual assault convictions, meaning he'll now face a retrial.
One more thing
So the Rams won the Super Bowl, which is great. Good job Rams.
But did you SEE the halftime show?!
In every '90s baby's dream come true, the iconic annual music/sport crossover featured Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, a sneaky upside-down cameo from 50 Cent, a subtle tribute to Tupac Shakur and some live percussion, courtesy of Anderson .Paak. Huge.
Half-time shows can be polarising — but people were LOVING this one.
There was a pretty significant symbolic moment during the show as well — Eminem took a knee while on stage with Dr. Dre.
There were rumours swirling that the NFL had told the rapper not to kneel during his performance. The league's vice-president, Brian McCarthy, said after the game that those reports were "erroneous".
