The legendary 325-goal striker who Rangers should 'take a punt on' this summer

Rangers have been urged to sign free-agent striker Jamie Vardy.

The former Leicester City forward is without a club after leaving Cremonese following a season in Serie A.

The call comes in light of Youssef Chermiti's injury, which has left the Ibrox side needing more attacking options for the 2026–27 campaign.

Vardy, 39, is a seasoned striker with 200 goals in 500 appearances for the Foxes. He showcased his skill in Italy, indicating he still has the ability to perform at a high level.

Former Scottish attacker Gordon Dalziel, speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, said: "If the wages were sensible and fitted in with the rest of the club, I would take a punt on him.

"I do think, for one season, I still think up here he would have the ability to go and score goals."

Despite Vardy's age, his experience, movement, and finishing ability could provide a valuable alternative for Rangers.

His role could mirror Jermain Defoe's at Ibrox, offering Derek McInnes a seasoned option as the club aims to compete on various fronts.
