Seven men went to prison and a sixth offender was sent to youth custody in the latest cases to be heard before the court this month. Crimes dealt with included a scam artist who targeted the elderly, a burglar who ransacked a pensioner's home in West Bridgford, and a nasty attack with a metal gas cannister, leaving the victim with significant head injures.

Arfan Choudry
This scam artist told people a sob story in a bid to steal money. Arfan Choudry spent the last four months targeting elderly people in the Basford, Wollaton, the Arboretum, and Forest Fields areas of Nottingham – giving them a sob story to get cash.
The 49-year-old, of no fixed address, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Monday, February 6, after being charged with 10 counts of fraud by false representation, and was sentenced to 24 weeks in prison. Read the full story here

Dean Holm
Convicted burglar Dean Holm, 33, of no fixed address, broke into a pensioner's home in Valley Road, West Bridgford, between New Year's Eve last year and January 3 this year.
He was jailed for three years after admitting the burglary. Read the full story here
Reuben Commons
Reuben Commons, 25, pushed a taxi driver out of his car and stole his vehicle. He only managed to drive around 50 yards before getting out and letting it crash into a parked car.
Commons, of Ulgham Close, Arnold, appeared at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday, February 3, after pleading guilty to causing grievous bodily harm, aggravated vehicle taking and property damage. He was jailed for a total of 32 months and ordered to pay £187 to the victim. Read the full story here
Macs Watson
A man underwent brain surgery after being hit over the head with a metal gas cannister and chased through the streets. The victim, aged in his 20s, was attacked in the Newgate Lane area, of Mansfield, at around 9.30pm on Monday, July 18.
Macs Watson, aged 23, of Mellish Road, Langold, pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent and was jailed for seven years. Thomas Payne, aged 26, of Birkland Street, Mansfield, pleaded guilty to affray and was jailed or 16 months. Read the full story here
Corey Fawsitt
Shoplifter Corey Fawsitt, 20, of no fixed address, told one member of staff he would "bash his face in" after stealing pork chops from the Co-op store on Beckhampton Road, Bestwood.
At Mansfield Magistrates' Court, he was jailed for three months, and handed a 12-month criminal behaviour order, banning him from entering the store. He pleaded guilty to three charges of theft, three counts of using threatening, abusive, or insulting words or behaviour, and a further charge of common assault. Read the full story here
Kash Brookes
Kash Brookes, 32, of Widecombe Lane, Clifton, pleaded guilty to possessing drugs with intent to supply and breaching a suspended prison sentence. The case was over the seizure of cannabis vapes and refills, amphetamine, cannabis and cash.
Recorder Balraj Bhatia sentenced Brookes to 27 months in prison and ordered a confiscation hearing be adjourned. Read the full story here
