The latest COVID-19 case numbers from around the states and territories

Here's a quick wrap of each Australian jurisdiction's latest COVID-19 statistics today — Monday, August 22.

Victoria

There have been another six COVID-19 deaths.

There are 414 cases in hospital, with 28 of those in intensive care and 10 requiring ventilation.

There were 2,600 new cases today. 

NSW

The state has recorded four more COVID-19 deaths. 

There are 1962 cases in hospital, 50 of those in intensive care. 

There were 5013 new cases announced today.

Queensland

There are 383 cases in hospital, with 11 of those in intensive care.

There were 1,587 new cases today. 

ACT

There are 120 cases in hospital, with three of those in intensive care. 

There were 186 new cases today. 

Northern Territory

There are 26 cases in hospital, with none in intensive care. 

There were 98 new cases announced today. 

South Australia

There are 227 cases in hospital, with eight of those in intensive care. 

There were 786 cases announced today. 

Tasmania

There are 59 people with COVID in hospital, with two of those in intensive care. 

There were 214 new cases. 

Western Australia

There are 237 people with COVID in hospital, with four of those in intensive care. 

There were 1,119 new cases of the virus announced today. 

Mutations in the COVID-19 virus continue to pose a risk.
