Nothing beats the glow of a well-designed dining table, particularly over Christmas. A table with even the smallest of festive touches brings the magic of the holidays into the heart of your home.
Whether your table features a simple wintry floral arrangement or a whimsical festive tablecloth, Christmas table decor ideas needn't be complicated. In fact, even the quickest DIYs can make all the difference to your dining room.
While there are plenty of quick fixes that can transform your dining table into a festive spread, Martha Stewart's mini wreaths, designed to sit at the base of candlesticks, are my firm favorite. Simple yet impactful, Martha's idea is the perfect festive flourish that can be created just minutes before your big Christmas feast.

Whether you're designing a festive grazing table or an expensive tablescape for less, Martha's mini wreaths suit any occasion over the holidays.
She says, 'One of my favorite things at Christmas is to decorate the Christmas table and to do that, I sometimes decorate my candlesticks.'
Martha begins the DIY with some wire. She explains, 'What you have to do first is cut a length of wire (Martha recommends 18 or 20 gauge wire, such as this 18 Gauge Dark Green Floral Paper Wrapped Wire from Amazon) and form this into a ring of a size that would fit around your candlestick base.' Pointing to her wreath, she says, 'This is your mini wreath frame.'
Once the wire base has been created, you can then attach your sprigs of foliage. The beauty of the look is its versatility. 'You could add a pinecone', suggests Martha, or other wintry motifs like berries, fir branches or even mistletoe.
Simple yet effective, Martha says, 'These are very festive and very practical. They'll protect your table tops and your best linens from dripping candlewax. They're a good thing.'
Martha's mini wreaths will bring a timeless dose of holiday cheer to your dining table. Christmas might be near, but this ingenious little craft idea couldn't be easier to put together, just in time for the big day.
