The King was 'airbrushed out' of Harry and Meghan's Netflix series, claims PR expert

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have released their highly-anticipated new Netflix series, with King Charles being "airbrushed out" according to a PR expert.

Three episodes of the bombshell six-part series, which reportedly earned them $107million (£88million), landed on the streaming platform on Thursday, with the next instalment due to be released next week.

The episodes showed what life has been like for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex since they first met in 2016.

So far, the docuseries has focused on the couple's romance and their experience with the British press, with the royal family mentioned briefly.

'PR to the Stars' Mayah Riaz told The Mirror: "There wasn’t much mention of The King in it - he was almost airbrushed out of it. In fact, the villain in the documentary was the British press."

"Overall, I don’t think the documentary damages the Royal Family at all. Not in the slightest. I am sure they are probably very relieved from what it was painted out to be," Mayah added.

Speaking about claims the royal family were not approached for comment on the allegations made by Harry and Meghan, Mayah told us: "It emerges that The Royal Family had the opportunity to reply.

"After some to-ing and fro-ing, it seems they couldn’t verify the email.

"However, even if they had the email verified, I’m not sure they would have provided a response."

The PR expert said she "doesn't blame" the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for releasing the documentary.

"When they said they wanted a private life when leaving the Royal Family, they didn’t mean complete privacy. But a private life where they are not under the constraints of all that come with being part of the Royal Family.

"There’s so much written about them which is untrue and damaging. There have been headlines to stir up hate towards Meghan.

"Now they are able to speak freely and tell their truth, I don’t blame them for setting the record straight. It’s from their mouths and not other people writing books about them."

Pictures used within the trailer for the Netflix documentary showed endless photographers supposedly hounding Meghan and Harry.

However, it turned out that the clip of the photographers was footage from Katie Price arriving at court in Crawley, West Sussex.

Stock images were used in the trailer (Netflix)

Speaking about the photo, Mayah said: "The trailers which were released before the documentary launched were revealed to be essentially stock images. That’s not down to Meghan and Harry, that’s down to Netflix."

She added: "The documentary is a beautiful love story.

"It’s the couple speaking about their experiences of being part of the most famous family in the world. It contains information many people wanted to know."
