The Jungle Book at the Gaiety Theatre review: Christmas has truly arrived as family favourite fairytale returns

We know Christmas has truly arrived when the Gaiety Theatre opens its doors for the annual Christmas panto!!

And after last year's cancellation of The Little Mermaid due to Covid restrictions, this year it's back with a bang with family favourite fairytale The Jungle Book.

At its first ever production in Ireland, The Jungle Book is brought to life with an amazing cast, stage production and creative costumes to ensure a show like no other.

Mowgli the man cub, played by the young and talented Jake Farmer, takes us on an epic adventure through the jungle on the run from the ferocious Shere Khan, played by regular baddie Nicholas Grennell.

Sharing his Mowgli role with two other young stars, 11 year old Farmer was well able to hold his own, even with the more experienced Billy Barry stage school cast hitting every step of the fast paced dance routines. You’ll be out of breath just watching!

With the help of his pals Bagheera the Panther (Michael Joseph) and Baloo the Bear (Donnacha O’Dear) along with their jungle friends, Shere Khan is no match for Mowgli and his crew.

And let's not forget everyone's favourite nanny, panto dame Joe Conlan. This year's Nanny Nincompoop is back keeping everyone in line with her quick witt and sassy comebacks - she’s certainly not a nanny to be messed with!

With the latest chart hits, dance battles, and hilarious TikTok references, The Jungle Book has something for the whole family to enjoy.

The show was a roarrring success among the crowd, with laughs, giggles, sing-alongs and standing ovations aplenty!

This production will be sure to Baloo you away, so forget your worries and your strife, and enjoy a show you’re not likely to forget!

After all this is no ordinary panto, it's The Gaiety Panto!

The jungle book runs at The Gaiety Theatre Dublin from 27th of November 2022 to the 22nd of January 2023.
