A man blinded his partner's sister in one eye by throwing an ornament at her, with his victim speaking of his "Jekyll and Hyde" character. Paul Reid, 47, has now been jailed for 28 months.
The horrendous attack left Gina Wignall, 52, fearing she would lose her eye entirely. Now, the day after he was sent to prison, Gina and her sister - Reid's former partner of 17 years, Jacquie O'Regan - told of a different side to the 'charming Irishman' who unleashed his violence on Gina in July 2020.
Sitting in the dock at Preston Crown Court, Reid seemed smart and well presented. Letters in support of his good character were handed to the judge and the court heard he had never been in trouble with the law. However, the O'Regan family know all too well the impact of his devastating temper, LancsLive reports.
