The items that could be worth a fortune due to simple misprints

It's time to dust off that old collection of yours because some childhood items could now be worth a fortune due to simple misprints.

However amusing or annoying you find it, misprints like simple spelling errors can add significant value to merchandise - regardless of how it may seem.

And you may have something extremely rare that's been stuffed away up in the attic.

London based merchandise printing experts ICON Printing, have trawled through resale sited and have revealed the items with misprints which can fetch the highest prices right now, and you may be surprised.

Alex Econs, founder of ICON printing said: "Whilst misprints are unfortunate and can sometimes lead to financial loss for businesses, on rare occasions, misprinted merchandise can become highly sought after, collectable items.

"The demand for such rare pieces drives the price up and we can see originally affordable items sell for over 10x their original value.

"For those lucky enough to find themselves in possession of collectable misprinted merchandise, a large financial return may be pending."

Valentina TY Beanie Baby

Beanie Babies were a cult toy of the 90’s but did you know that some of your favourite childhood toys could be worth some money.

Valentina, the pink Valentine’s day special edition Beanie Baby launched in 1999 is considered super rare, as she was only in production for less than a year.

A number of the bears were sold with misprinted labels. On the inside of the ear tag, Gosport was spelt Gasport. Those bears that were kept in good condition, with their misprinted tags intact are now fetching up to 371% more than they were originally sold for.

LEGO Harley Quinn alarm clock

LEGO accidentally misspelt Harley Quinn’s name on the packaging of its novelty alarm clock.

The actual alarm clock was completely perfect, however, the L and E of Harley were switched, meaning those alarm clocks that were kept in mint condition within the packaging that features the mistake are now worth 162% more than their original value.

Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone 1st Edition

J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series is immensely popular worldwide and first editions of her books have very quickly become collectable.

However, the most valuable book in the series is the first, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, especially the first editions. On page 53, the item “1 wand” appears twice, once at the beginning and once at the end.

This misprint proves the book to be a first edition and can therefore be worth almost 5000% more than the price of the book.

LEGO Back to the Future Time Machine

This LEGO Back to the Future Time Machine building set features mini figures of Marty McFly and Doc Brown and also includes fully functioning opening gull-wing doors, time travel display, two license plates, Marty’s skateboard and a rare SHEILD spelling error.

This misprint is on the actual toy rather than just the packaging making this imperfect version 186% more expensive than the original.

2005 Guy Fawkes £2

The Royal Mint is continually printing new currency, however in 2005 a small number of £2 coins had the spelling mistake: “Pemember, Pemember the Fifth of November” written on them.

It might be worth looking through your loose change or piggy bank to see if you might have one of these coins as you could be cashing in on The Royal Mint's mistake as they are selling for almost 400% more on resale platforms.
