A third installment of The Inbetweeners is officially in development at Netflix, with creators Iain Morris and Damon Beesley returning and the original cast, Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, James Buckley and Blake Harrison, reportedly attached to reprise their roles more than a decade after the last film. The deal, struck between the creators' Fudge Park Productions and rights holder Banijay UK, marks the first new material from the franchise since The Inbetweeners 2 in 2014. It's also renewing attention on the show's era-defining look, a distinctly 2000s British take on teenage casualwear that's already resurfacing on its own.
The original series, which ran on E4 from 2008 to 2010, dressed its four leads in a uniform that felt aggressively unremarkable at the time and now reads as a specific, referenced aesthetic: polo shirts layered under zip-up hoodies, straight-leg or low-rise denim, and simple trainers, all filtered through a school-adjacent, slightly awkward version of preppy dressing. Nothing about the look was aspirational by design. That's precisely what makes it distinct from the era's more polished style references, and why it's proving useful again now.
