The Idol viewers horrified watching The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp's X-rated sex scene

The Idol viewers have been left horrified after watching an X-rated sex scene that features singer The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp - with some questionable dialogue.

Widely branded as the "worst sex scene in history" by fans and publications alike, viewers were in disbelief at the dialogue from the latest episode.

Fans have even said that they will never look at The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, in the same way after he said a very racy line.

In the show, Abel plays the role of Tedros, a self-help guru and the head of a contemporary cult, while Lily-Rose plays the role of Jocelyn, a popstar who gets swept up in Tedros' life and antics.

Musician Abel stars as Tedros in the new HBO series (HBO)

And throughout the series so far, the pair can be seen engaging in steamy scenes.

But one particular scene from the second episode in the new HBO series, which aired on Sunday, has left viewers up in arms and completely cringed out.

Channelling Fifty Shades of Grey, Abel's character Tedros can be seen giving sexual orders to Jocelyn, who can be seen naked and blindfolded.

Tedros then said: "F***in' stretch that tiny, little p****," which in turn left viewers and fans in a state of shock.

"I will never see The Weeknd the same after this," penned one fan who shared a clip of the scene in question, complete with subtitles to the dialogue.

Someone then replied: "He actually say those things in a lot of his songs, but still, talking and singing is different."

Elsewhere on the social media platform another said: "So cringe It’s giving 2016 Wattpad."

"I'm sick to my stomach pls put a content warning," pleaded second.

A third then wrote: "This is disgusting."

While a fourth said: "I actually threw up."

And a fifth offered: "Every time I hear his music I get creeped out now."

But some fans were quick to jump to Abel's defense, with them urging the critiques that it's just "acting" and isn't real life.

The Idol continues on Sunday nights on HBO and Sky Atlantic.
