It’s not just Margot Robbie and Georgia Fowler bagging the beauty deals, our hot Aussie men are also pulling in beauty contracts with some of the world’s biggest brands.
Ginny & Georgia star Felix Mallard has just been announced globally as the first local ambassador for Dior Beauty’s Fragrance and Skincare. With Ginny & Georgia getting over 60 million views on Netflix, at 26 years of age, Mallard has come a long way from his Neighbours days where he played the role of Ben Kirk.
The Melbourne-born actor calls LA home now and he’s certainly making a name for himself in Tinseltown. He stars in the romantic drama ‘Turtles all the Way Down’, an HBO Max adaptation of the cult-favourite John Green novel which centres around a girl rekindling a friendship while navigating OCD and anxiety.
Another Aussie export on the uptick is Troye Sivan. He’s just been announced as Rabanne’s global makeup ambassador. Starting in Perth, Sivan burst onto the scene with Trxye and Wild, which launched in 2014 and 2015 respectively, and his trajectory has been on the rise ever since.
Sivan has gone on to receive two Grammy nominations, six ARIA Awards, a Billboard Music Award and a Golden Globe for Best Original Song for a Motion Picture for “Revelation” which he collaborated with Jónsi for the film Boy Erased.
Clues of a possible collaboration with Rabanne cropped up were there in Sivan’s Rush video, where the singer wore Rabanne. Sivan was also clad in the House’s new season designs and makeup when he appeared at theSS24 Rabanne show so its exciting to see the partnership made official.
“I’ve always been attracted to Rabanne’s effortless vibe,” says Sivan. “I love to play and express myself, and I have actively worked over the years to unlearn any restrictions I put on myself when it comes to fashion and beauty. Something about Rabanne just feels very right to me personally, and their approach to fashion and beauty is aligned with mine.”
Both Sivan and Mallard follow in the footsteps of Chris Hemsworth, who was the global face of Hugo Boss’s fragrance for men in 2021 and 2022.
Beauty isn’t the only mega deal our Aussie guys are picking up. In March this year, Jacob Elordi was announced as Bottega Venetta newest official ambassador. The statuesque Brisbane local has been wearing the brand (and carrying the brand’s drool-worthy bags) for some years so the partnership with Bottega Veneta was perhaps no surprise.
The campaign came out with Elordi sporting a salmon-pink V neck jumper layered over a neck tie with the actor (adorably) holding his hands up above his head, which was perhaps a nod to his co-star Barry Keoghan’s antler-wearing character Oliver in the psychological drama Saltburn. Elordi received a nomination for the BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his role as Felix Catton in the smash-hit film.
Incredibly talented in their fields – and very easy on the eyes – it’s clear our Aussie guy exports are having a moment. (And we couldn’t be happier to tune in.)
