The Hoppings rules on dogs - are they allowed into the funfair this year?

Crowds will be heading to The Hoppings from Friday as the summer funfair welcomes back families for the first time since 2019.

Recent days have seen huge rides and sideshows installed on Newcastle Town Moor as the world's largest travelling fair sets up in readiness for its nine-day run. And from midday on June 17 families and friends from across the North East will be flocking to share in the fun.

With The Hoppings having been cancelled for the past two years due to the pandemic, its comeback is set to prove more popular than ever. The layout of rides - ranging from those for tots to adrenaline thrills for daredevils - as well as other attractions, including food stalls and traditional fairground games, always ensures there is broad appeal for all ages.

As families plan their outing, many will be wondering if they can take along their dog too. Their pet is a member of the family after all but outdoor events can vary in their regulations about dogs.

So are they allowed at The Hoppings? The fair's rules on our four-legged friends are clear so here are the regulations along with other tips that are helpful to know ahead of a visit.

Can I take my dog into The Hoppings?

Yes, dogs are allowed at the funfair on the Town Moor but owners are reminded that they must be kept on leads at all times.

What about parking?

If you're taking along your dog, you may well be taking your car and this year there is a new parking system in place, with pre-booking available for the first time online which will mean a £1 saving on the price you'll pay just turning up on the day. Read all about it here.
