Charli XCX was a major presence in my social media feeds this month even before she announced that Kamala Harris is Brat. I knew a few of Charli’s hits in a passive way, but my musician friends have been raving about her, even the ones who are not usually deep into pop.
I listened to Brat and immediately liked it, but I didn’t have much context for the music, so I asked my online hive mind for help. Dr. Robin James recommended this Boiler Room set for Charli’s musical influences, and Lullaby77LFC suggested this Red Bull interview for broader biographical background.
