Fans of The Handmaid's Tale have been treated to first look images from the highly-anticipated fifth season of the popular TV drama.
On Monday, actress Elisabeth Moss took to Instagram to confirm to her 1.5 million followers that season five will kick off on September 14.
The first image is a close up of Moss' character June Osborne staring straight down the camera's lens with an angry look on her face.
And the second shot Yvonne Strahovski's character Serena Joy Waterford, who can be seen in mourning wearing a black veil over her face.
Moss simply captioned the post: "Guess who’s back… 9•14•22 Season 5. First 2 episodes. Directed by yours truly."
It seems season five will touch upon the aftermath of Fred Waterford's orchestrated death.
The evil character, played by Joseph Fiennes, met his demise in season four when June and a bunch of her fellow Handmaids chased him in the woods and eventually beat him to death.
Season four ended with June arriving back home with blood on her face as she prepared to hand herself over to the authorities in Toronto, Canada, for the killing.
As she holds her baby Nichole in her arms and cries, her husband Luke sees her and immediately understands what has happened.
"I know,” June whispered. “I’m sorry," she added before asking for five minutes with daughter, before saying: “Then I’ll go.”
It's unsure whether or not June will pay for the death of Fred, but Serena doesn't appear to be too bothered about his murder and according to Hulu, Serena will looking to "raise her profile in Toronto as Gilead's influence creeps into Canada" in season five.
The Handmaid's Tale arrives on Hulu on September 14.
