The Hairy Bikers' Si King gives health update on Dave Myers as he battles cancer

Hairy Biker Si King has reassured fans with an update on Dave Myers’ health after the star revealed that he had been diagnosed with cancer earlier this year.

Cumbrian -born Dave announced back in May that he was undergoing chemotherapy treatment following his diagnosis. “I haven't been too well recently and basically, I've got to have some chemo,” he said on the pair’s Agony Uncles podcast.

Dave went on: “This year is going to be a bit quiet for me, I’m not going to be filming, some of the festivals I'm not going to be able to go to, some may be okay but this year's a bit of a write off for us.” He also appealed to fans to respect his and his family’s privacy and to “just let me get on with it”.

Dave added that the prognosis for his illness was “okay” and reassured fans that he was “going to be fine”. Appearing on stage at Bolton Food and Drink Festival on Saturday, Si gave fans an update that Dave, 64, was “getting there” after having to pull out of the event, the Manchester Evening News reports .

“I just wanted to say, from Dave and I, thank you so, so very much for all of the goodwill and support, all the messages really do not go unnoticed,” County Durham -born Si told the audience. “He's doing canny, but as you appreciate he's right in the trenches of it all at the minute - but he's getting there, thank God.”

Although he couldn’t make it to the festival, fans of the popular TV duo were delighted when Dave made an appearance on the pair’s Instagram page on Saturday. The chef rustled up a tasty stir fry in a new video, sporting a hat after telling fans that he had “embraced the baldness” that came as a result of his chemotherapy treatment.
