The Great British Bake Off finale will air on Channel 4 on November 15, when Abdul, Sandro and Syabira will compete to be crowned star baker.

Once the 13th season comes to a close, Bake Off fans will have to wait until next year to see judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood back in the tent.

This season has been full of highs but, as any true Bake Off fan will know, things can — and do — go very, very wrong.

However, some of the past Bake Off mishaps have been among the funniest moments of the show, particularly in the celebrity spin-offs when the stakes aren’t as high.

Before the final, TouchCasino.com put together a list of the BBC show’s most popular mishaps. It also ranked them based on how many Youtube views they’ve had.

Top Bake Off mishaps

The most viewed “Bake Off gone wrong” moment was when YouTuber Joe Sugg sliced his finger—and consequently fainted at the sight of his own blood.

The second most viewed baking mistake was when comedian David Mitchell served up pavlova that was supposed to be metallic like a rocket — but instead resembled “grey sludge”.

In third place is a clip of Channel 4 News’ lead presenter, Krishnan Guru-Murthy, flipping a cake — only to destroy it in the process.

So, while you’re looking forward to the Bake Off final next week, watch these three clips (their YouTube views are in brackets) and the rest of the most popular moments from the programme below.

Joe Sugg faints (1,710,579)

David Mitchell serves grey sludge (859,146)

Krishnan Guru-Murthy cake flipping (479,105)

Vegan cake collapse (167,537)

Alison Hammond missing door (170,184)

Custardgate (80,466)

Sura’s accidental sabotage (70,389)

Clanger calamity (50,473)

TouchCasino.com’s Laura O’Brien commented on the most common things to go wrong on the hit show.

“Through researching and analysing the show’s most memorable mishaps, we can draw conclusions as to what the most common mistakes are, and in turn provide predictions into the events with the highest probability of occurring,” she said.

“The mishap that appears most common and thus likely to happen again is related to pure clumsiness. Pressure seemingly affects all contestants, to the point where you can guarantee that a bake will end up anywhere but the plate.”

Ms O’Brien continued: “In the fast-paced environment, contestants often find themselves taking on one too many tasks at a time and unfortunately this has come at the expense of fellow competitors — as we’ve seen from ‘Custardgate’ and ‘Sura’s accidental sabotage’.

“With the eyes of Paul Hollywood watching over contestants, it’s pivotal that your baking tastes the best in the room. However, a vast number of contestants focus too hard on this element and forget that their creations not only need to taste great, but look the part too.”
