For five years, Sister Schubert’s fans asked, begged and eventually petitioned for the return of a frozen food composed of two things: a small smoked sausage and a soft Parker House roll.
The company had discontinued its Sausage Wrap Rolls in 2021, replacing them with sausage pinwheels, and people were furious. Nearly 16,000 people signed a Change.org petition. They emailed. They complained on social media. They mourned Christmas mornings without them. The campaign went on long enough that, this summer, Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey used a business conference to ask a Marzetti executive the question apparently haunting her constituents: How quickly could they get the sausage rolls back on shelves?
