The Girl From Ipanema singer Astrud Gilberto dies as family pays heartfelt tribute

Astrud Gilberto Marcelo

Bossa nova singer Astrud Gilberto - best known for her recognisable recording of The Girl From Ipanema - has died aged 83.

The singer died on June 5, her son Marcelo confirmed to The Independent.

Her cause of death has not yet been confirmed.
