The political map of Wales' councils has now been confirmed and Labour has had another good election. However, the Conservatives have lost control of their only Welsh council and tens of seats in councils all over Wales.
All the results have now been confirmed for Wales, and it has been a good night for Labour and Plaid Cymru but disastrous for the Conservatives which no longer has control of any council. You can see the reaction to the party's collapse here.

The final election map for Wales:
Two recounts are taking place in Flintshire on Saturday but that will not change the overall council being in no overall control.
Isle of Anglesey - Plaid gain
Plaid Cymru has taken control of Ynys Mon council. The party had been working in a coalition since the previous election but has now managed to cross the threshold for majority which is 18 members.
Of the 35 seats for the taking, 21 went to Plaid Cymru which was five more than they won in 2017. The independents had a poor results day, losing six seats in 2022 and ending on 10. Labour gained one additional seat this time round to bring it to three, while the Lib Dems took the remaining seat.
Confirmation of Plaid's win came as Talybolion returned three Plaid Cymru members – all women, including the council leader Llinos Medi. This was a new ward and the independent Kenneth Pritchard Hughes was expected to put in a strong showing, but came fourth with 12% of the votes.The Conservative candidates barely mustered a few percentage points of the vote between them, despite the island having a Conservative MP.

Blaenau Gwent - Labour gain
The votes have been counted in Blaenau Gwent and Labour have regained the council. In the last election Labour lost control however it has now wrestled it back. The full results from the local authority are:

Bridgend - Labour gain
Bridgend was a Labour gain. The Tories have lost 12 seats whereas Plaid and the Lib Dems lost two each. Labour saw 10 more councils than in the previous election.

- Plaid Cymru - 2 (-2)

Caerphilly - Labour hold
The votes have been counted in Caerphilly and Labour have held the council. There was very little change within the council. The full results were:
- Labour - 45 (same)
- Plaid Cymru - 18 (-1)

Cardiff - Labour hold
Labour have held the Welsh capital but increased its numbers. In a positive result for Labour they have solidified their hold on Cardiff gaining a further 13 seats - mainly at the result of lost Conservative seats.

Carmarthenshire - Plaid Cymru gain
Plaid Cymru has gained Carmarthenshire. It was previously the largest party but now have full control over the local authority. The leader, Emlyn Dole, did however lose his seat.

Ceredigion - Plaid Cymru gain
Plaid Cymru has gained Ceredigion. The council previously had no overall control but now control the local authority.

Conwy - No overall majority
The votes have been counted an Labour have made significant gains at the expense of the Conservatives. Labour made gains but the council remains with no party having over all control.

Denbighshire - No overall majority
The votes have been counted counted in Denbighshire and there is still no overall control of the local authority. Labour is the largest party with Conservatives dropping from the largest to fourth place.

Flintshire - No overall majority
Flintshire had two recounts which took place on the morning of Saturday May 7. No one party took an overall majority. The number of seats has dropped from 70 to 67 as part of the boundary review carried out ahead of this election.

- Independent: 30 (+8)
- Welsh Conservative: 2 (-5)
- Lib Dems: 4 (-1)

Gwynedd - Plaid Cymru hold
The votes have been counted in Gwynedd and Plaid Cymru have held the council gaining four seats. Three of their seats came at the expense of independent councillors and one from Welsh Labour. The total make up of the council is:
- Plaid Cymru: 44 councillors (+4)
- Independent: 23 (-3)
- Labour: 1 (+1)
- Liberal Democrats: 1 (same)

Merthyr Tydfil - No overall majority
The votes have been counted in Merthyr and no party has an overall majority. Labour gained two seats leaving it dead level with the number of independents.

Monmouthshire - No overall control
The Conservative Party has lost control of the only council it had overall control of in Wales going into the 2022 election. The party had run Monmouthshire since 2017. No party took overall control of the authority but with all the votes counted, Labour has the most seats. It gained 14 seats and the Conservatives lost six. One Green candidate was elected along with five independents.
Monmouthshire Conservative leader Richard John kept his seat but told ITV Wales: "I think the public has spoken loudly and clearly and has sent a message that the party needs to consider."

- Independent: 5

Neath Port Talbot - No overall majority
Labour lost control of Neath Port Talbot with a large swing towards independent councillors. Though still the largest party, Labour lost 13 councillors with Plaid Cymru also losing support.

Newport - Labour hold
The votes have been counted in Newport and Labour has held the local authority. Labour gained three seats leaving whereas the Tories lost seven.

Pembrokeshire - No overall control
The votes have been counted in Pembrokeshire and there is no overall majority is held. However independents have 35 of 60 seats available.

- Liberal Democrat - 2 (+2)

Powys - No overall control
There were big gains for the Liberal Democrats in Powys as they won 24 seats in the 2022 council elections. The Lib Dems won 13 seats when Wales last went to the polls in 2017 but gained 11 in this year's election to hold the most seats on Powys County Council.
This sizeable gain did not come at the expense of the Tories however - who instead gained a seat to push them up to 14 - but rather the independent councillors who have dominated the council since 2017. After winning 30 seats at the last election, they're down to 17. Among them is Claire Mills, formerly the only councillor for Abolish the Assembly.
Meanwhile, Labour are up one to nine, while Plaid Cymru stay on three and the Green Party remain on one. The full results can be found below:

Rhondda Cynon Taff - Labour hold
Labour increased their stranglehold on RCT gaining eight seats. Of the 75 seats available in the local authority Labour have won 59 of them.

Swansea - Labour hold
Labour held Swansea despite losing four seats overall Labour have kept overall control. The Lib Dems gained six seats.

Torfaen - Labour hold
The votes in the local elections in Torfaen have been counted and Labour have held the council. In a disappointing result for the Conservatives have lost all four of their councillors with Labour holding 75% of the council seats. One ward, New Inn, previously had three councillors all of whom were Conservative. Labour has now taken all three of those seats.

Vale of Glamorgan - no overall control
The final result of the night came just after 11pm. Labour has gained an awful lot of seats in the Vale of Glamorgan but it is in no overall control.

Wrexham - Remains no overall control
Local election results are in for Wrexham and there is still no overall control at the north east Wales council. The largest groups was the independents who had 23 seats but that was a fall of five from last time. Plaid Cymru saw an increase of six seats whereas Labour increased their total by three.
