The Full Monty to be revived as a Disney+ series

Fans of the iconic film will be pleased to hear The Full Monty will be making a return in a new Disney + series.

Almost 25 years after the film was released, the story follows the lads as they navigate the post-industrial city of Sheffield and society’s crumbling healthcare, education and employment sectors. The original cast from the 1997 film will all be reprising their roles as will the original screenwriter Simon Beaufoy.

That includes Robert Carlyle as Gaz, Mark Addy as Dave, Lesley Sharp as Jean, Hugo Speer as Guy and Liverpool's Paul Barber as Horse. Also making an appearance will be Steve Huison as Lomper, Wim Snape as Nathan and Tom Wilkinson as Gerald in this heartfelt and fiercely funny world of working-class heroes.

The series will also introduce a whole new cast of children and grandchildren of the returning characters. Simon Beaufoy gushed at how excited he was to return to the story and even more so that the original cast will be joining him for the series.

He said: "We’re chuffed to bits to get all the Monty Men back together again – now with a chaotic entourage of children, grandchildren, pets and assorted hangers-on – to see what life in Sheffield is like twenty-five years on."

With production already underway in Sheffield and Manchester, it won't be long until fans of the show will be able to get their first taste of the series. There is no release date as of it but the show will air on Disney+.
