Tottenham saw some success in the January transfer window with two incomings and four outgoings, but a number of Antonio Conte's players will be left in limbo as they remain in N17.
There were rumours flying around about various players making a move away from Spurs, in what was the Italian's first transfer window as boss.
The 52-year-old has already found some success in his short time in north London, making improvements on and off the pitch.
The Lilywhites are currently seventh in the Premier League, two points off fourth-place Manchester United and with two games in hand.
Spurs still have the FA Cup to try and end their almost 14-year trophy drought, as well as hopes of securing a top-four spot in the final months of the season.
Now the winter transfer window is closed and Tottenham look to finish the season as strong as possible, football.london takes a look at the four players left in limbo.
Matt Doherty
Doherty is currently the second right wing-back option for Conte, with Emerson Royal usually getting the nod ahead of the Republic of Ireland international.
Apart from a solid second-half performance against Leicester before the winter break, the 30-year-old has struggled to make a consistently positive impact on the Tottenham side.
Doherty has made just 15 appearances for Spurs so far this season and registered one assist since being played in his wing-back role.
During the January window, there were reports of a potential swap deal involving Adama Traore and it would've seen the defender make a move back to his former club.
However, the Spaniard ended up going back to Barcelona and Doherty remained in N17.
After his good performance at the King Power Stadium, the Irishman was given the nod to start against Chelsea in the next fixture, but failed to keep up his form.
Doherty is likely to get more minutes in the second half of the season, with the busy fixture schedule to come and a lack of squad depth.
However, his long-term future at Tottenham is uncertain and will depend on how he performs in the final few months of the campaign, when given the opportunity.
Joe Rodon
Rodon is arguably the Tottenham player who would've benefited the most from a move away, but he didn't get that in the January window.
The defender has struggled to get game time, even in Eric Dier's absence, who Conte told football.london he was the understudy for.
Rodon has made just seven appearances in all competitions for the Lilywhites so far this season and given that he is still only 24, he could've really benefited from some regular first-team football elsewhere.
There was interest from clubs abroad and other Premier League teams, but the move didn't become a reality for the defender.
The Welshman will now have to spend more time at Spurs, until at least the summer and his future remains uncertain as he will struggle to get match minutes with Dier back from injury and Cristian Romero close to returning to action.
Japhet Tanganga
Yet another Spurs defender who was linked with a move away in January was Tanganga, with AC Milan reportedly interested.
The Italian side are currently third in Serie A and just four points off the top spot, so a move for the 22-year-old would've been a big one to help them try and claim the title.
It would've given the defender a chance to get regular game time and more experience with a move abroad, however, Tanganga is another who will be in north London for a while longer.
Just like Rodon, the London-born player will struggle for game time with the return of Romero, but has often been given the nod when his teammates in the backline have picked up injuries so there could still be chances for him to step in.
Tanganga has made a number of mistakes leading to goals in recent games, which won't help his place in Conte's pecking order.
Therefore, there is a lot of work to do if the defender wants to get more match minutes under the Italian, or even if he wants to impress other clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.
Steven Bergwijn
Before the thrilling 3-2 victory over Leicester, Bergwijn had heavy links with Ajax, who had a £15million bid rejected near the start of the window, and he was another player struggling with injury and lack of game time, so a move seemed like a suitable option.
However, after he played the main part in the comeback at the King Power Stadium, rumours started to die down and the Dutch international's place in the Spurs squad seemed more concrete.
Towards the end of the transfer window, yet more rumours were sparked but the Tottenham boss had made it clear that he could count on the 24-year-old and it became less likely that he would make an exit.
However, with the signing of Dejan Kulusevski taking up one of the attacking positions, it creates yet more competition amongst the Spurs players.
Son Heung-min's return from injury will add to that and Bergwijn will have to work hard to get the nod from Conte because if he doesn't, he may think more about interest from other clubs in the next transfer window.
The Tottenham boss will need all of his players performing at their best in the months leading up to the end of the season, as they still struggle with a lack of squad depth.
The aforementioned members of the team face an uncertain few months and only time will tell if they remain in N17 next season.
