Kwesi Adofo-Mensah has been trading like he’s back on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange.
On Wednesday, he made his third trade of the last 24 hours by acquiring Jalen Reagor in a trade with the Philadelphia Eagles.
The synergy with this move is wild, as Rick Spielman and Mike Zimmer laughed at the Philadelphia Eagles drafting Reagor over Justin Jefferson. Just two years later, their successors traded for the maligned speedster from TCU.
The football world had a lot of reactions to the news, including a lot of chatter about said synergy.
Jalen Reagor and Justin Jefferson
Never forget the Vikings draft room reaction after the Eagles drafted Jalen Reagor over Justin Jefferson 😭

The vibes of a future Jefferson – Reagor partnership in which Jettas helps Reagor out with his early struggles are immaculate

Justin Jefferson was already sympathetic to Jalen Reagor before he became his teammate on the #Vikings

It is best for Reagor and his career to go to a new team. Obviously very unfortunate for him that it is Minnesota with Justin Jefferson #Eagles

Vikings fans are mixed
I think Reagor is really really bad. But it *is* extremely funny, so I support it. If he’s just awful it’s a very funny “dead dove, don’t open” trade, if he becomes good it’s hilarious.

It’s a little steep but I really liked Reagor coming out of TCU and he’s a really good PR that can be a deep threat for this new #Vikings offense https://t.co/Tz2YOIT1gi

honestly is reagor even better than ISM? Feels like the vikings got worse today
— Luke Braun (@LukeBraunNFL) August 31, 2022
All I’m saying is KJ Osborn wouldn’t have gone from borderline ST player to WR3 on a good core without Keenan McCardell coaching and obviously mentoring from JJ and Thielen.
This is a really good spot for Reagor to get better if he has it in him.

Don't know where exactly Reagor slots into the depth chart at WR, but I DO know that he solves the punt return issue.
— The Daily Norseman (@DailyNorseman) August 31, 2022
Like how funny would it be, if the Eagles first pass on Jefferson in favor of Reagor, then trade Reagor to the Vikings and then Reagor figures it out and breaks out? 😂 https://t.co/q3utBmiIaB

Going from ISM and Watts to Reagor and Blacklock pic.twitter.com/K3eqMm82y7

Armon Watts 2019 pick 190
Ross Blacklock 2020 pick 40ISM 2021 pick 157
Jalen Reagor 2020 pick 21I may be the only one happy with this. Better raw upside with both moves, IMO. Potential difference makers with new scenery/coaching… Watts and ISM aren't that.

Jalen Reagor is a very good 4th WR to have. Can also return punts and kicks. Only in year three too.
I like this move. #vikings pic.twitter.com/AH1jfxJ8Oz

The Jalen Reagor acquisition has plenty of subplots, but I think it functionally will play out more like Dede Westbrook in terms of impact. Punt returner probably the most logical fit.

Howie Roseman praise
JJ Arcega-Whiteside and Jalen Reagor are no longer Philadelphia Eagles. The nightmares are over. We can finally heal.

I do love that Howie Roseman doesn’t give a shit about optics with that Reagor trade
Definitely some GMs that would be too prideful to pull the trigger

The Eagles basically traded Jalen Reagor for Chauncey Gardner-Johnson
— Gregg Rosenthal (@greggrosenthal) August 31, 2022
Howie dealing
TUE:
✅get Chauncey Gardner-Johnson
✅get a 7th
➡️give a 5th
➡️give a 6thWED:
➡️give Jalen Reagor
✅get a 7th
✅get a 5th (could become a 4th)nearly nets out on the picks…
AND he got more for Reagor than Dallas got for Amari Cooper (one 5th + swap of 6ths)

The Eagles traded J.J. Arcega-Whiteside to DK Metcalf's team, and Jalen Reagor to Justin Jefferson's team.

Basically swapping Jalen Reagor for CGJ. Howie is dealin' these days https://t.co/Lu4vtrOlX4

Howie Roseman on #Eagles WR Jalen Reagor: “One of our scouts told me he’s one of the only guys who practiced everyday. He had great energy. There’s no doubt in my mind he earned a spot on this team.”
— Josh Tolentino (@JCTSports) August 30, 2022
The compensation is divisive
The #Eagles got more for Jalen Reagor than the #Cowboys got for Amari Coper.
I am sad.
— Marcus Mosher (@Marcus_Mosher) August 31, 2022
Surprised at how much the Vikings are giving up to save the Eagles cap space, but Jalen Reagor was a more consistent player this summer than he was either of the past two years. He’s still only 23 and there are worse gambles. But the history of WRs with his production is dire.
— Bo Wulf (@Bo_Wulf) August 31, 2022
If you are mad about the compensation comparison between Coop/Reagor it’s just strange to me.
You could say hey Coops value was shit so you should have kept him, but other than that yes, that’s what the NFL said that player at that salary was worth. 🤷♂️
