Five Welsh restaurants and pubs have been named among UK's top 100 for al fresco dining. This year, restaurants spanning the entirety of the UK made the cut, and five restaurants in Wales have made the list. Yorkshire takes the number one spot with 10 restaurants on the list, closely followed by London with nine, and Oxford with seven.
Newly commissioned research from OpenTable reveals that more than half (52%) of Brits prefer to dine outdoors during the summer. pub gardens reign supreme when dining outdoors: nearly two-thirds (65%) of UK diners most often look for pub gardens when dining outdoors, followed by venues with waterfront views (42%). This year’s 100 Most Popular Outdoor Dining list, curated by analyzing over 1.3 million OpenTable diner reviews.

The five venues in the 100-strong list are:
- Aberdunant Hall, Porthmadog
- The Ferry Inn, St Dogmaels
- Nags Head Inn Abercych
- The Daffodil Inn, Llandysul
- The Sully Inn, Sully
North Wales' Aberdunant Hall is rated by diners for it's friendly services, perfectly-cooked steaks and their Sunday carvery is a favourite alongside classic dishes, steaks and meats from the grill. They have a heated terrace at the Snowdonia-nestled hall, which is found in more than 200 acres of mature woodland at the Aberdunant Hall Holiday Park. Find more about them, here.
Meanwhile, The Ferry Inn in St Dogmaels overlooks the River Teifi and has a great terrace where you can sup a pint or order from their well-fleshed out menu which features dishes from Welsh beefburger and steaks to summer risotto and sea bass. Find out more about them, here.
At The Daffodil you'll find a lovely outdoor seating overlooking beautiful countryside just outside Llandysul and you're a stone's throw from New Quay. The menu is full of pub classics, brunch and also that all-important Sunday lunches. Read up on The Daffodil, here.
Another pub, The Nag's Head in Abercych is near Cenarth Falls in Pembs and prides itself on a warm welcome and a menu packed with homemade dishes and local Welsh beef. More on the Nag's Head here.
Last, but not least, is The Sully Inn is part of The Knife and Fork group, which also has The Conway and The Pilot amongst others. Their blackboard menu features specials like pork tomahawk steak and cheesy nachos with pulled beef. More here.
