Forwarding photos and videos
The Sun reports that one of the updates could include the ability to send photos and videos to contacts with a caption - which you are unable to do right now.
Detecting text in images
Another update that is currently being beta tested is detecting text in WhatsApp images so that you can copy and paste it.
This could be handy for documents and forms, which will save people having to type it all out.
WhatsApp history shuffling
This update is not in beta testing, but under development right now. The update is the ability to shuffle about your WhatsApp history between using Google Drive, making it much easier to do so.
Blocking people on WhatsApp
Another update is the ability to block someone much quicker than the current system provides. This will include developing a block shortcut in the chat list.
It's not yet known when these changes will be made live, as they'll all need to go through numerous testing processes to make sure they're working in top condition.
People can sign up for the beta testing system by heading to the app on your app store on Android.
Search for 'WhatsApp' and scroll down the page until you see 'Become a Beta tester'. Hit 'I'm in' and then click 'Join' to confirm. Now all you have to do is wait for the update to the beta version of the app.
Joining the WhatsApp beta on iOS is more difficult, and has limited capacity - but Apple has a guide on how to do so.
