NFL mock draft season is heating up in 2024 now that the Super Bowl is over and the official first round order set.
So the talk about how many quarterbacks we’ll see go on opening night has begun. In the latest NFL mock draft from our Christian D’Andrea, he’s got four — Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, Jayden Daniels and Michael Penix Jr.
And in the first of the year from ESPN’s Field Yates? He’s got five: Williams, Daniels, Maye, J.J. McCarthy and Bo Nix. He’s got the Broncos grabbing McCarthy and the Steelers taking Nix, but the interesting thing here is: Daniels would go to the Commanders with the No. 2 pick, and Maye would drop to third to the Patriots.
Here’s Yates’ take on Daniels:
Daniels did as much as one could possibly do during the 2023 season to boost his draft stock, as he skyrocketed up boards on the heels of 40 touchdown passes, four interceptions and 1,230 rushing yards (not including sacks) on his way to the Heisman Trophy. He’s the best dual-threat quarterback in this class and changes the math for a defense every time he steps on the field. In Washington, Daniels would have an exciting wide receiver unit and could help build stability under center for new coach Dan Quinn.
