Newcastle United's rising stars Jay Turner-Cooke and Joe White will move between the academy ranks and senior side on a 'day by day' basis after impressing Eddie Howe. The young midfielders have both been called up to first-team training on numerous occasions since the appointment of the Magpies head coach last November.
Loan moves were mooted for both Turner-Cooke and White this summer, with the latter spending the second-half of last season with League Two side Hartlepool United. However, the pair remain on Tyneside and will predominantly turn out for the under-21s this season.
Turner-Cooke and White started in the 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest's U21s at Whitley Park on Friday night, with Josh Scott netting both goals. Elliott Dickman was asked about the young midfielders, and he admits their involvement over the coming weeks will likely change on a daily basis.

The U21s boss told ChronicleLive: "Joe and Jay have spent quite a bit of time training with the first team which is fantastic for their development, being in around the senior players and staff which is brilliant for the two lads. Obviously their game-time is going to be predominantly with us.
"That's the plan really. There will be days where they are with the senior team, and there will be days when they are with us. That's decided by the manager.
"If he needs them and he wants them, they're there. If not, they will train with the under-21s. It will change day by day."
