The faces of five men who carried out terrifying gun attack in Leeds

These are the names and faces of the five thugs who brought terror to a Leeds street.

The five men targeted a house in the city with gunshots - with one firing shots, another acting as lookout and another acting as getaway driver, a court heard.

Bilal Ahmed, Motibur Rahman, Hassanuj Jamal, Mohammed Ahmed and Mohammed Arman Rashid have now been jailed for a total of 33 years and four months.

Leeds Crown Court heard police were called out to Shepherds Place in Chapeltown during the early hours of 15 May last year where they found a gunshot in its porch door. The five men were arrested and charged.

A jury heard Jamal fired the shots, 21, Arman Rashid, 20, was the lookout and joint organiser along with Mohammed Ahmed, 18, - and Rahman, 24, was the getaway driver. While Bilal Ahmed, 21, took a hatchet to a silver Audi car parked outside.

All five were all convicted of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life or enabling another to do so.

Jamal, of Hill Top Avenue, Chapeltown, was jailed for six years and seven months, Bilal Ahmed, of Harold Terrace, Hyde Park, was jailed for seven years and seven months, Rahman, of Harehills Avenue, Harehills, was jailed for five and a half years.

Mohammed Ahmed was jailed for six and a half years; and Rashid was jailed for seven years and three months.

Speaking after the sentencing, Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Lee Townley, of West Yorkshire Police, said: “I would like to thank the public for their support during this investigation and for the information that has been provided.

“West Yorkshire Police is committed to conducting detailed and thorough investigations into all firearms discharges in the communities of West Yorkshire.

“I am pleased with the sentences handed down today and hope that it not only reassures the communities of Leeds of the action we will take against those suspected of firearms offences but also serves as a clear warning to those who carry weapons to cause fear, that we will do everything we can to detect them and bring those responsible to justice.”
