Co-president and artistic director Caroline Scheufele has repeatedly explored the sensuality of textiles -- translating lace, silk and embroidery into gold and precious stones for fashioning Chopard's high-jewellery pieces.
In contrast, the fabric itself becomes a stylish bracelet in the design of L'Heure Du Diamant Alta Moda, launched on the occasion of the 79th edition of the Festival De Cannes, which took place from May 12-23.
The new quartz model is actually a revival of the Alta Moda jewellery watch from 1984 while staying true to the original, regarding the use of silk taffeta, whose generous folds form an ample butterfly bow at the centre of the wrist.
Notably, the ribbon bracelet is made from the very same fabric featured in certain creations from Caroline's Couture collection, designed by Scheufele.
Her reinterpretation of the Alta Moda displays the time on an iridescent mother-of-pearl dial in a 24mm case that appears seamlessly integrated into the bow. In 18-carat ethical white gold, the dainty case is pavé-set with 80 brilliant-cut diamonds totalling 5.5 carats.
Also set with diamonds, the removable clasp allows changing the ribbon to match different outfits as well as the mood of the day while making a fashion statement.
