A documentary exploring the legacy of iconic trans model April Ashley will air on Channel 4 tonight.
The Extraordinary Life of April Ashley is part of the network's special schedule to celebrate 50 years of Pride. The hour long programme will chart the life of the transgender pioneer who changed Britain.
The model paved the way for generations of people when she became became one of the first people in the world to undergo gender reassignment surgery. April was born at Liverpool's Smithdown Road Hospital in 1935 and lived in Pitt Street near the Docks before moving to Norris Green.
