It was 15 years ago - in late January 2007 - that the Chronicle told of the demise of a much-unloved architectural monstrosity.

We reported: "An infamous eyesore which has blighted a city centre for more than 30 years was finally removed yesterday.

"Floor by floor, contractors have been bringing down Westgate House in Westgate Road, Newcastle.
