There are almost 700 registered sex offenders living in Edinburgh and Lothians - 38 more since the last stats were uploaded in October 2022.
Police Scotland has released the latest figures by council area and postcode and they show (EH54) which includes West Lothian areas Livingston, Uphall and Broxburn has the highest number with 49.

Shortly followed by Leith (EH6/EH7) EH6 with 36 and EH7 with 38 bringing the Leith area to a total of 78.
West Lothian areas EH48 and EH49 were near the top of the list too with 34 and 17 registered sex offenders living in postcodes that include the Armadale, Blackburn, Bathgate, Fauldhouse areas.
EH17 including Gilmerton, Mortonhall and Moredun has 23 and EH16 which covers Craigmillar and Niddrie had 43.
In the city centre Southside, Northfield and Meadowbank have 13 while EH3 including Inverleith, Warriston, Tollcross, Fountainbridge has 17 an increase from the 10 there was in October and EH9 including Blackford, Marchmont and the Grange has just 8.

The EH postcode takes in a huge area, including West Lothian, Midlothian and East Lothian as well as the whole of Edinburgh and there is a lot of variation in the volume of sex offenders across the different council areas.
