The Dublin eateries shortlisted for UK and Ireland Restaurant of the Year

A slew of Dublin's favourite takeaway restaurants have made it to the shortlist of the UK and Ireland's best restaurants as part of Uber Eat's Restaurant of the Year Awards.

Customers have been asked to cast their votes for the best restaurant in Ireland with a number of Dublin favourites as strong contenders for the crown.

The restaurant that is named Ireland's favourite will then moved on to be judged by a prestigious panel, which includes The Great British Bake Off's Prue Leith, among top restaurants from across the UK.

Hungry Dubliners can cast their votes at ubereatsawards.com until Thursday, June 16.

The restaurant to win the overall Restaurant of the Year title will receive a handsome prize of £100,000 (approx. €117,000).

The Dublin restaurants that have made it to the shortlist include Griolladh, Lennox's, Rooster Peri Peri, Saba To Go, Salsa Authentic Mexican, Vegan Sandwich Co and Sumaki.

Other Irish restaurants to make the shortlist are BoTown in Galway, Locke Burger in Limerick and Yeah Burger, which is located in Maynooth, Navan, Drogheda and Wexford.

Judge Dame Prue Leith said of the awards: "I’m looking forward to discovering pioneers across the UK and Ireland and of course to eating some amazing food."

Meanwhile Uber Eats General Manager Matthew Price said: "There are so many amazing independent restaurants on Uber Eats and the shortlist really demonstrates the vast amount of options and cuisines available across the UK and Ireland.

"I can’t wait to see the fantastic stories that are brought to light, try some of the best food available on our high streets up and down the country and recognise the pioneers and innovators shaping the future of our restaurant industry."
