The delicious northside Korean restaurant found in a traditional pub

There is a wonderful Korean restaurant on Dublin's northside that makes for a wonderful date night full of flavour and exciting dishes.

Kimchi Hophouse is located on Parnell Street. The restaurant shares its space with The Shakespeare, offering visitors a unique blend of traditional Dublin pub vibes and the exciting flavours of Korea.

After managing to nab a table on a busy Saturday night, a sensational experience for the taste buds was about to take place. The menu is rather extensive with Korean favourites like Hansang Set, Bibimbap and spring rolls, as well as dumplings, chips, wings and noodle dishes.

I went for the Dak-galbi Hansang Set because I wanted to experience as many flavours as possible. For €17, I was more than satisfied and stuffed, and the variety I sought was found.

The dish consisted of spicy stir-fried chicken, rice, a dumpling, two roast potato pieces and kimchi. The collection of small dishes is called Buchan and delivers an exciting range of flavours all in the one meal.

I simply wanted to hoover up the Dak-galbi, but took my time to enjoy the other small dishes as well. The dinner was an experience with so much squeezed into one meal, a set of choices as to what to go for next; some spicy chicken followed by some kimchi followed by a dumpling.

What made it even more enjoyable was the relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant and adjoining bar definitely give off a no-frills vibe, making it somewhere to simply go to enjoy tasty food after shopping, before a film or as the main occasion itself.

Being the oldest Korean restaurant in Dublin, Kimchi Hophouse has solidified itself as a favourite among fans of the exciting cuisine in the city. Perhaps one of the most popular dishes served in the restaurant is their authentic Bibimbap, which consists of your choice of marinated beef, fish, or tofu, an assortment of pickled veg, topped with an egg, served over purple rice in a piping-hot stone dolsot (or soup) bowl.

Chopsticks at the ready, because you're going to want to add this place to your foodie bucket list. You can book a table at Kimchi Hophouse and order takeaway from the restaurant at kimchihophouse.ie.
