Child Benefit Payments
Your Child Benefit payment is usually paid early if it’s due on a bank holiday. This year, the pay date has been moved from December 27 to December 23.
However in Scotland, HMRC will issue your payment on the normal date, but your bank may not process it straight away.
You can check with your bank for the date you’ll get your payment. However, if you were due to be paid Child Benefit on January 2, 2023 - you will now be paid on December 30, 2022 instead.
Tax Credits
Tax Credit payments are made every week or every four weeks. You choose if you want to get paid weekly or every four weeks on your claim form.
If you were due to be paid on December 26, December 27 or December 28, you will be paid on December 23 instead. However those in Scotland that were due to be paid on December 29 will be paid on December 28 instead.

If your payment is late, check the payment date on your award notice and contact your bank before calling HMRC.
Universal Credit
For Universal Credit, those due to be paid on December 26 or December 27 will instead be paid on December 23.
The following is the change in Universal Credit payment dates:
- Due date of January 2, 2023 - New date of Friday, December 30
- Due date of January 3, 2023 - New date of Friday, December 30 for those living in Scotland
The payment date of December 30, 2022 will remain the same for Universal Credit claimants.
