Dancing With The Stars 2023 kicked off this week in a blur of sequins and fancy feet. A bunch of celebrities that my mum is super excited about are already slaying and we love to see it.
But the real tea lies in what the boogie bunch are being paid to go on the show. Because ultimately, while the celebs are all shimmying and shaking their way across the dancefloor for their chosen charities, they’re still being compensated for their time.
What are the celebrities being paid on Dancing With The Stars 2023?
According to Woman’s Day, this year the production team have approached their contestant’s salaries differently. Rather than paying them a sum reflective of their celebrity status, they’ve decided to go with a flat fee across the board of “just under $50,000”.
“The cast all rehearsed and trained as if they were going to the finale. They all put in the same amount of time, so they were all paid for five weeks of their time,” a source told the publication.
“It was one-price-fits-all of just under $50,000 each.”
With this new system, I’ve never felt more compelled to attempt to become a celebrity and throw on a glitzy outfit, a kitten heel and do the samba.

Who are the Dancing With The Stars hosts?
The media’s hardest-working host, Sonia Kruger has returned to her post this season.
She’s joined again by former Hey Hey It’s Saturday host Daryl Somers.
Personally, I think the man has the stage presence of a dish rag but my Nonna thought he was neat, so I guess pop off, king.
Apparently, old mate Somers wasn’t their first choice to host the show.
The Daily Telegraph reported that I’m A Celeb‘s Dr Chris Brown was the guy they wanted up front after he jumped ship from Channel Ten. But sadly, his contract with Channel Seven didn’t start in time for him to come on board so they went with Daryl instead.
Who are the new judges on Dancing With The Stars 2023?
The judges have had a bit of a shake-up this year.
Last season we heard critiques from judges Todd McKenney, Helen Richey, Paul Mercurio and Mark Wilson.
But then Paul Mercurio decided to become a Victorian Labour MP (???) so I guess his days of talking shit about some random celeb’s fox trot are over.
This season, we’ve got newbies Craig Revel Horwood and Sharna Burgess joining Todd McKenney and Mark Wilson.
When is Dancing With The Stars 2023 premiering?
Dancing With The Stars 2023 kicked off on Sunday 18 June.
The network began filming the new season at Quay Centre, Sydney Olympic Park on May 15 and will continue until June 1. You can even apply for tix to see the celebs shimmy and shake if that’s your thing.
Well, that’s all we know so far. Until then, I’ll be dreaming of sequins and practising my salsa.
