The Daily Show is reportedly ready to "hire a permanent female host" to replace the outgoing Trevor Noah – as the channel brings in Wanda Sykes and Chelsea Handler.
Leslie Jones took the reins as guest host on Tuesday earlier this week and Comedy Central plans to bring in a whole host of other female famous faces.
Bosses reportedly don't have a particular name in mind as a full-time replacement just yet, but sources say they're "ready" to green-light a woman presenter.
Sarah Silverman is among the names of upcoming guest presenters as the network begins its search for the ideal candidate.
"They are ready to hire a permanent female host," claims an insider. "A decision hasn't been made- it can take a month," they explained.
The insider told The U.S. Sun: "They are considering a few different people at the moment and have even had one-on-one conversations with people like Chelsea Handler.
"Each week is basically a test to see who's best fit. They want the next host to be just as loved by fans as Trevor Noah," the insider explained.
The Mirror has contacted Comedy Central for a comment.
Trevor Noah shocked viewers of The Daily Show in September earlier last year when he announced he was quitting his hosting duties.
The presenter, 38, had been in the hot seat for the last seven years after taking over from Jon Stewart in 2015 – making the announcement on-air.
Trevor expressed his gratitude for an "amazing" and "wild" seven years as he reminisced over his journey. He then confessed: "I realised after the seven years my time is up."
He added: "Honestly, I've loved hosting the show. It's been one of my greatest challenges. It's been one of my greatest joys.
"I've loved trying to figure out how to make people laugh even when the stories are particularly s***y on the worst days."
He continued his speech looking visibly emotional, saying he believes now is time to call it a day after admitting he misses being on the road in his career.
He joked that although he's not good at saying his goodbyes, he won't be disappearing, but failed to open up on what his next project might be.
Reeling off all of his thank you messages, Trevor concluded: "We'll figure out the timings and the whens. I'll still be here for the time being, but all I can say is thank you very much."
