Netflix release The Crown has dropped it's eagerly anticipated fifth series but first-look fans have questioned the decision to cast actor Dominic West as Prince Charles.
The drama returns to follow the late Queen Elizabeth II and the Royal family through the 1990s, with a brand new cast including Imelda Staunton playing the late monarch.
But while some complimented West, 58, on his portrayal of the now King, others were distracted by his appearance claiming he is 'too good looking' for the role.
Elsewhere viewers had nothing but praise of Elizabeth Debicki for her 'outstanding' performance and tipping her for an Emmy for her on-screen role as the ill-fated Princess Diana.
Fans flooded Twitter within minutes of the fifth series dropping on Wednesday with one claiming West as was 'too charismatic' for the role.
One tweeted: 'Dominic West is too handsome to be portraying Prince Charles in The Crown,' while another added: '#TheCrownNetflix just dropped and I have to say, strong start with the transition from past to present and Claire Foy, but Dominic West is just too handsome for Charles. Elizabeth Debicki is perfect as Diana.'
A third posted: 'Dominic West has too much charm to be playing #that man,' with one also posting: 'Dominic West is way too charismatic to play Prince Charles.'
Another fan was quick to comment: '5 minutes and it's clear Dominic West was miscast as Charles.'
The fifth series returns to show cracks and conflict in Charles and Diana's marriage and sets the stage for their 1991 separation and divorce five years later.
Australian actress Debecki rose to the task of portraying Diana's final years before her tragic death in a Paris car crash in 1997.
One user tweeted: ''Elizabeth Debicki is insane for making her voice and accent sound like Diana's so accurately.''
'I am amazed by Elizabeth Debicki's Diana voice ohmygod,' one user posted.
Another fan tweeted: ''Really not warming to this new #TheCrown cast. The only stand-out for me so far is Diana. The rest haven't got patch on their presence."
In the new season, Imelda Staunton stirs the ship as Monarch, a role portrayed by Claire Foy as the young Princess Elizabeth ascending to the throne and growing into her role as queen. Seasons 3 and 4 featured Olivia Colman as a more mature queen.
In the first two seasons of The Crown, child actors Billy Jenkins and Julian Baring played the role of Prince Charles.
Then, in the third and fourth seasons, he was played an adult by Josh O’Connor, who starred opposite Emma Corrin.
Meanwhile cast newcomers for the new series include Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret and Jonathan Pryce as Prince Philip.
