The Coros Apex 2 Pro Chamonix edition is a nod to one of the best mountain biking destinations

Details of the Apex 2 Pro Chamonix Edition limited edition smartwatch

Chinese brand Coros makes a host of GPS sports wearables and training software and has recently launched its Coros HR Monitor strap which it claims offers a superior alternative to the traditional HR chest strap. Its top-of-the-range Coros Vertix smartwatch is aimed to challenge the likes of the Garmin Fenix and Epix in the best cycling smartwatch category.

Coros has now announced the launch of a limited edition version of its Apex 2 multi-sport smartwatch, the Apex 2 Pro Chamonix Edition, which comes in a special colorway as a nod to one of the best mountain bike locations on earth – the Chamonix-Mont-Blanc Valley is famous for offering countless MTB trails in a spectacular setting for mountain bike adventures and exploring.

The Apex 2 Pro Chamonix Edition is packed full of the brand's latest-generation technology and innovative features, with a massive battery life that is claimed to be over 30 days with regular use. The sapphire glass screen and grade 5 titanium alloy bezel also protect the tech inside, and Coros says the sapphire glass will stay virtually scratch-free, with the new PVD coating giving better scratch resistance on the bezel.

Even with the best bikepacking adventure plans, there are always risks and the Coros Apex 2 connects with all five major satellite systems and has dual frequency GNSS support for enhanced navigation. It comes with free global offline mapping, checkpoints, and custom route planning, allowing users to access navigation information in remote locations. The digital dial should also make it easy to zoom in and out of the map, with touchscreen capabilities enabling the dragging of the map with just a finger.

Advanced route planning allows users to simply draw a preferred route via the Coros app, and once the route planner function has chosen the optimal path based on desired activity, that can be saved and transferred to the watch. The Coros ecosystem is also compatible with popular third-party route builders, such as Strava and Komoot.

The Apex 2 can also be paired with the Coros Training Hub and EvoLab sports science system which Coros says allows users to track fitness goals and progress, backed by some of the best endurance athletes in the world. It also tracks and enables proper recovery with sleep monitoring, heart rate variability (HRV) measurement and an Altitude Mode.

The limited edition Apex 2 Pro Chamonix Edition is available to order today from Coros.com and will retail at $449 / £449 / €499.
