Two-time Tour de France champion, Jonas Vingegaard, has been forced to withdraw from the 2026 Tour de France after suffering a fractured collarbone during Stage 15, ending his bid for another title. The crash not only reshaped this year's race but also highlighted one of the most common injuries in professional cycling, a clavicle fracture, which can range from a minor injury treated with a sling to a severe break requiring surgery.
According to race officials and team updates, Vingegaard sustained the fracture after crashing during Sunday's stage. While collarbone fractures are among the most frequently seen injuries in cycling because riders often land directly on the shoulder during falls, they are also among the injuries that can temporarily sideline even the world's best athletes.
