Rent costs are continuing to soar across the UK in the midst of the crippling cost of living crisis. According to Zoopla, the average UK rent has hit £1,126 this month which now takes up more than 28 percent of average earnings.
Across Greater Manchester, renters are now bearing the brunt of the recent interest rate rises as the price to rent a home has now become even more unaffordable.
Here we look at how much rent costs have gone up in every part of the region over the last year, as well as the cheapest and most expensive areas to rent today.

Cheapest areas to rent
Wigan
As well as boasting the cheapest house prices, it is no surprise that Wigan is also the most affordable borough to rent.
Although rent costs have gone up by 11.6 percent in the last year, the average price to rent is currently £680.
Bolton
Rent prices in Bolton have risen by 12.5 percent in the last 12 months, but it is still considered one of the cheapest boroughs with an average rent cost of £718.

Rochdale
Rochdale has an average rent cost of £734 making it one of the most affordable boroughs to rent a home despite prices having gone up by 11.4 percent in the last year.
Oldham
Another cheap area to rent is Oldham, with an average rent price of £766 which has gone up by 12.8 percent.
Tameside
Tameside is also classed as one of the more affordable boroughs to rent, with an average cost of £781 which has risen by 9.5 percent in the last 12 months.
Most expensive places to rent
Manchester
Manchester is now the most expensive borough to rent with a staggering cost of £1,099 on average, which has gone up by 13 percent in the last year alone.
Trafford
Rent costs in Trafford have risen by 14 percent since last year, taking the average rent cost up to £1,087 per month.
Salford
Salford also has expensive rent costs, with an average price of £988 which has gone up by 14.2 percent in the last 12 months - - the biggest increase of all 10 boroughs.
Stockport
Rent prices in Stockport are fairly expensive, with an average cost of £935 which as increase by 9.7 percent in the last year.
Bury
Bury is also considered to be an expensive borough to rent, with prices having gone up by 10 percent in the last year bringing the average price up to £817.
Elsewhere in the UK, Sheffield also offers affordable monthly rents, with an average rate of £753 a month - a jump of 7 percent in the last year.
Liverpool is also considered a cheap place to rent, with an average rent of less than £800, with local renters paying £764 each month.
