Tonight's episode of The Chase left viewers surprised as they tuned in to see 'The Simpsons' taking on the famous game show. The quiz's four contestants, Marge, Bart, Maggie and Lisa, all shared their name with members of the Simpsons family from the classic US cartoon.
The animated American show is one of the world's most famous comedies with host Bradley Walsh and Chaser Darragh Ennis both making remarks at the contestant's names. Bradley introduced the four and said: "That's my team, the Simpsons".
Marge, a 71-year-old retired councillor and psychotherapist from South Ayrshire, Bart a 21-year-old history and international relations student from Birmingham, Maggie a 69-year-old property administrator from Newcastle and Lisa, a 33-year-old finger-print examiner from Kent made up the team.

One viewer took to Twitter and said: "Contestants on The Chase tonight... Marge, Bart, Maggie and Lisa... this must have been on purpose?!"
Another said: "There's no way these people were randomly picked. Some staff member's a fan."
Darragh quickly made a reference to Lisa and tried to chuck a joke in too after she successfully answered her series of questions. He said: "Hello, Lisa, In keeping with the Simpsons theme, it might well be that Lisa is the clever one in the family, but you're still going home-r."

One comedy fan, referencing characters in Family Guy, a cartoon often compared to The Simpsons, said: "What's next, Peter, Lois, Meg & Chris?" Another person said: "Tomorrow on The Chase we'll have Ringo, Paul, John and George," referencing band members in The Beatles.
One person admitted they didn't realise The Simpsons theme until the end of the episode, and another only clocked when their ten-year-old pointed it out. The Chase airs on ITV every weekday at 5pm.
