The Chase viewers praise 'handsome' Beast Mark Labbett after 10 stone weight loss

Viewers of The Chase have praised “The Beast” Mark Labbett for his “handsome” appearance on Thursday’s show. The Chaser announced that he had dropped three suit sizes and lost ten stone in weight in a recent Instagram post.

One viewer took to Twitter to comment: “Isn’t Mark looking handsome today? # TheChase ”. They added: “He’s just a good looking guy.”

Another tweeted that Mark’s weight loss had made him look “Ten years younger”. The quizmaster, 57, has spoken out about his significant weight loss that he’s been working on since joining the show in 2009.

On Thursday evening’s episode of The Chase Solicitor Fiona, who’d previously been on Pointless, faced The Beast. Also featured was Amitabh from Delhi, India, Derek, an actor from Wirral, and Becky, a fitness instructor from Birmingham.

The contestants were no match for Mark’s incredible knowledge base, with Fiona, Becky, and Derek. The Chaser caught the team with just three seconds remaining, with host Bradley Walsh praising the team's gallant attempts to push The Chaser three times.

Appearing on Loose Women in 2021 following lockdown Mark revealed that he had cut down on sugar and carbs to achieve his new physique. He shared that he'd found lockdown helped him shed the pounds as he ran around "after a hyperactive toddler" while nurseries were shut.

Mark reached his heaviest weight of 29 stone in 2003 whilst working as a full time teacher. Although his weight loss journey has been ongoing since then The Beast said that he'd found it easier to lose weight during the pandemic.

He told ITV's Loose Women: "I’ve been around 26 stone up until lockdown, and then a few things happened quite nicely and came together and I started losing weight." Mark added: "I found at the end of the evening instead of going to the fridge for late night snacking, all I could do was collapse on the bed."
